February 11, 2015 – Children born via assisted reproductive technologies are getting healthier, study says

Children born via assisted reproductive technologies are getting healthier, study says. Over the last 20 years, rates of premature birth, low birth weight, stillbirth and infant death have decreased. Some of the most common forms of assisted reproductive technologies include:

– Surrogacy

– Gestational surrogacy

– In vitro fertilization (IVF)

The study, published on January 20 in the Oxford University Press journal, Human Reproduction, suggests that the practice of implanting a single embryo, versus multiple embryos has contributed to the positive results. The old adage holds true, less is more.
