I Did Not Expect To Get Pregnant. What Is The Current Status Of Indiana’s New Law Banning Most Abortions?
The short answer is that the new law, which was to take effect on September 15, 2022, has been put on hold. In other words, Indiana allows abortion to the same extent as prior to the enactment of the new abortion law. The Indiana Supreme Court will decide whether to allow the new law to go into effect sometime after it hears oral arguments in the case on January 19, 2023. If the Indiana Supreme Court strikes down the new law, it will likely give reasons, which may provide direction for the Indiana General Assembly to modify the new law to satisfy the concerns of the court.
Among other changes, the new law limits the time frame and circumstances for a woman to have an abortion and the type of facility which can administer an abortion. Specifically, under the new law abortion clinics may no longer perform abortions.
Regardless of what happens to Indiana’s abortion law, if you face an unplanned pregnancy or an untimely pregnancy, you should explore giving your baby up for adoption, or more correctly, making an adoption plan for your unborn child.

POSITIVE ADOPTION LANGUAGE DISCLAIMER: Please understand that these blog posts are written in a way to use language that people use when searching for help with their adoption plans. Unfortunately, while all of us understand what positive adoption language means, most expectant moms that come to us at first do not understand what that means. The most common search term on the Internet for expectant moms is “how do I give up my baby for adoption”. If we do not include those words in our blog posts, and instead put “how do I create an adoption plan for my baby” then our website will not show up in most expectant mom’s search results in Google.
