Indiana Adoption – Pregnant and want to know about adoption?

“I am interested in adoption. I am pregnant and would like to talk to someone please,” said the nervous sounding voice on the other end of the phone.

I said, “We can help you and I would happy to sit down with you, in person, to discuss things whenever and wherever it is convenient for you. There is no cost to you and please keep in mind, by meeting with us, you are not obligated to proceed with placing your baby. Would you like to meet? Where?”

She responded, “I am in jail.”

I just returned from the local county jail from my meeting with this scared, yet courageous and brave, young woman.

She is due to deliver in the next few days and does not want the baby to enter the DCS system and foster care. Even if she delivers tonight, I assured her that we can assist with her adoption plan AND the baby will be able to leave the hospital in the arms of the family she CHOOSES to adopt.

In assisting with adoptions for nearly 30 years, we have found that life does not always go as planned. She definitely did not plan to be in this situation and she understands that, despite all of the difficult things going on in her personal life, she is making the welfare of the baby her first priority. I am honored that she called us to help her potentially place her baby for adoption with a family that will understand the love and courage it takes to make this decision.
