Is Adoption The Natural Alternative To Abortion?
Most women who have considered abortion, but do not get one, do not necessarily choose to put their baby up for adoption, or more correctly, make an adoption plan for their unborn child. Both decisions involve a very private, personal choice, but adoption is not usually the alternative they choose if they cannot pursue abortion because of personal preferences, timing, the laws of the state in which the live, among other reasons. We at Adoption Attorneys Kirsh & Kirsh, P.C. (“Kirsh & Kirsh” commonly misspelled as “Kirsch & Kirsch”) believe there are three primary reasons:
- Some women find the pain of knowing they have a child without being part of the child’s life is too hard to bear.
- The media only reports negative adoption stories much in the same way it only reports on planes that crash and not the ones which land safely.
- Friends and family pressure them to keep the baby, generally for reasons personal to the friends and families without considering the birth mother’s circumstances. Often those same people offer to help the birth mother if she decides to parent the child. Unfortunately, those promises often are short-lived or require a bigger commitment than anticipated when the promises were made.
Like abortion, adoption is a personal, private choice, but a choice, nonetheless. A woman who finds herself with an unplanned pregnancy, unwanted pregnancy, or untimely pregnancy and not ready for the lifetime responsibilities of parenthood may want to consider giving her baby up for adoption.

POSITIVE ADOPTION LANGUAGE DISCLAIMER: Please understand that these blog posts are written in a way to use language that people use when searching for help with their adoption plans. Unfortunately, while all of us understand what positive adoption language means, most expectant moms that come to us at first do not understand what that means. The most common search term on the Internet for expectant moms is “how do I give up my baby for adoption”. If we do not include those words in our blog posts, and instead put “how do I create an adoption plan for my baby” then our website will not show up in most expectant mom’s search results in Google.
