What Is Indiana’s New Abortion Law

Effective September 15, 2022, Indiana Law, IC 16-34-2-1, will ban ALL ABORTIONS, except those performed within the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, to prevent “any serious health risk to the pregnant woman or save the pregnant woman’s life” or if “the fetus is diagnosed with a lethal fetal anomaly.” Additionally, a woman who conceived as a result of rape or incest may have an abortion during the first 10 weeks of the pregnancy. Also, Indiana’s new abortion law limits the use of Mifepristone, an abortion-inducing drug, to the first 8 weeks of the pregnancy. Some have described Indiana’s law banning abortion as the most restrictive abortion law in the country and the first since the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe vs. Wade.

Giving a baby up for adoption, or more appropriately, making an adoption plan, gives a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy, untimely pregnancy, or unwanted pregnancy an alternative to parenting the child.

POSITIVE ADOPTION LANGUAGE DISCLAIMER:  Please understand that these blog posts are written in a way to use language that people use when searching for help with their adoption plans.  Unfortunately, while all of us understand what positive adoption language means, most expectant moms that come to us at first do not understand what that means. The most common search term on the Internet for expectant moms is “how do I give up my baby for adoption”.  If we do not include those words in our blog posts, and instead put “how do I create an adoption plan for my baby” then our website will not show up in most expectant moms’ search results on Google.
